Issue 4 wanted to take away your right to elect the position of County Engineer. This would have made Summit County the only county in the State of Ohio not to have an elected County Engineer or Surveyor. This elective position is responsible for Summit County ’s roads and bridges, and gives you, the citizens, a chance to keep this person accountable for your safety.
Currently, the position of Summit County Engineer is required to be held by a professionally licensed engineer. If Issue 4 would have passed, the County Engineer position would have been eliminated, giving its responsibilities, duties, and budget to the County Executive.
For nearly a century, the citizens of Summit County have had the right to choose their County Engineer. For the safety of everyone in Summit County, Thank you for voting NO on Issue 4!!
