Issue 4 will eliminate the office of Summit County Engineer
- Approval of Issue 4 would transfer the Engineer’s budget to the County Executive and place the Executive in charge of your County roads and bridges.
- If passed, Issue 4 will eliminate the office of County Engineer and transfer all duties of the elected office of Engineer to the office of County Executive. Summit County will be the only county in the State of Ohio without an elected engineer making the decisions for its roads and bridges. Summit County will no longer have an independently elected engineer overseeing the safety of our County infrastructure.
- Your elected County Engineer serves on various boards and commissions that decide how our infrastructure tax dollars are spent, including monies provided through state and federal grants. An independent voice on these matters is a valuable asset for our community that cannot be replaced by a political appointee.
- Your elected engineer is responsive to the public and in the event that he or she fails to be so, then you, the public, can choose to replace your engineer when you vote. If Issue 4 passes in November the voters of Summit County will no longer have a say in who represents them on engineering issues in Summit County. Vote No on Issue 4. Your ‘No’ vote on Issue 4 is a vote to protect your right to vote for County Engineer.
